Dealing with the stress

I’m a pretty solid person.  Organized. Responsible. Spontaneous. Knowledgable.  But sometimes, I hit a wall and it’s as if I’m at the bottom of a pile on.  Can’t breathe, headaches, my heart races and I just feel like crying.  I never know if I should turn right or left and unsure what my next move is.  I have to reset, clear my head and just remember to breathe.

It’s been a very exciting year this year.  Filled with new experiences and accomplishments.  But as I embark upon some time off, my candles are burnt out.

Here are some things that I have done to recover and bring myself back to homeostasis.

  1. Morning meditation and yoga – this is an essential part of my day. I set my intentions, clear my mind from the day before, connect with my breath and focus on what’s important.
  2. Spending time in nature – nature slows me down.  I’m fortunate that I live in the best place for nature.  Ten minutes to Stanley Park and I’m in my own little forest retreat.  This time is special to connect with myself and slow it all down.
  3. Being quiet – in a world filled with noise and chatter, silence says more than you can imagine.  Filling the air with sounds changes the energy around you.  If the sound of aum is everything, then what does nothing sound like?
  4. Reflection – as much as I forget to journal, I love to write.  My journal is filled with little scraps of paper that has thoughts, observations and reflections on.  These all create memories for me, allow me to dispose of negative thoughts and focus on the good.

It was difficult to prioritize these things when I had so many other things to do.  But for the sake of my sanity and my health, I need to make the time.

We all need to spend time with ourselves.  It’s one of the best time of my day. Try it.

Eat well. Stay healthy.                                                              See you in a heartbeat 💕

Anti-icandoit…an anti-candida trial

If you know me by now, you know that I’m always guinea pigging myself. 🐹🐭Testing out new fads and tricks to see how difficult or bogus they are.

I’ve been on an anti-canadida diet for the past five days with a friend of mine. What is candida? A brief explanation is “a yeast or fungus-like bacteria that grows in your gut”.  It particularly likes sugar-any sugar; grains, the starchy stuff, fruits and of course the refined white stuff.  It can cause any reactions from depression and anxiety, bloating to reoccurring yeast infections and skin rashes.  It’s probably the cause of many ailments your doctor can’t diagnose, and yes, you probably have some.

Now, I don’t have any overgrowth of candida in me, but I do bloat, (don’t we all ladies?) so for scientific research I’m in. 😳

There are tons of websites out there telling what you can and CAN’T eat, so I’m not going to go through them, but here are a few major ones.  Or what affected me.

NO: grains- rice or wheat; fruits; no starchy vegetables: carrot, potatoes, yams; soy; caffeine: coffee or tea; no alcohol; nuts: peanuts, cashews, pistachios; no mushrooms.

So what are you left with? Veggies and protein. Just no pork.  You need to be creative here. What have I been eating? Lots of salad. Lots of chicken. Eggs. Sounds like a pretty normal whole foods diet, doesn’t it?

Here’s the thing: because my blood sugar is so low, trying to kill the candida in my system, I have been so lethargic. 😣😴 normally, your ND will give you vitamins supplements to combat this. But alas, I have none.  Cold turkey.  So tired.

I have gone through cravings of pizza, popcorn and especially fruit. Boy, how I miss fruit 🍓🍊🍋🍇🍉🍌🍈🍍🍐 I have noticed that I have really low blood sugar.  I’m lethargic. Colleagues think I’m angry. I don’t even have enough energy to laugh. My bloating hasn’t decreased and I am more anxious than when I started.

I can see how this would be advantageous for anyone who actually had candida. The body would be living off the overgrowth of sugar in the body. Using up the stores, this is how people lose weight. It’s just not for me.

So here’s a recap of you think you want to try this diet.

  1. Remove all grains,(and I mean all) sugar, coffee, alcohol, refined foods, starchy vegetables from your diet.
  2. Pack your fridge with leans meats and good vegetables. Make a meal plan that you will be able to follow.
  3. Get on a really good probiotic. This will help your gut battle the bacteria and add good bacteria into your gut
  4. Get an anti-fungal supplement. This will help with die off
  5. Drink loads of water to flush your system out.
  6. Reap the benefits.

One quick note ladies: your man is a carrier, so he should go on the diet with you! Good luck with that 😉

A rose by any other name…YYT part deux

IMG_2885

What does this rose mean to you? Love? Beauty? Life? Terror? Does it affect you at all? We are like this rose in the way that we aren’t truly the rose at all.

People compliment you and tear you down, but is that a definition of who you are or who they are? Think about the last time someone complimented you, good or bad, and really think bout how they said it. Did they swallow? Look at the ground or sky? Did they stare you right in the eye? Now think about your reaction when they were saying it. Were your feelings a true reflection of their words?

All of this energy, or prana, is the life force around you. It connects with your intuition and gives away all your feelings in your face and body language.

You cannot hide from the seat of consciousness. You are what you project and what comes back to you is a reflection of your own self. The reaction is the reflection. Be mindful of your thoughts and be kind to yourself.

You will see the light through the darkness. Just love yourself and you will see.

Eat well. Be healthy.
See you in a heartbeat 💕

listen to the ears of corn 🌽🌽

This post isn’t’ really about corn at all, but really about what is happening on Old MacDonald’s farm and what it is doing to you. See, Old Mac’s farm is right beside the Farmer in the dell, which is right beside Peter Cottontail, (I know he wasn’t a farmer, but it was the closest I could get). 🐰 One out of the bunch probably uses synthetic pesticides and fertilizers to make their corn strong and that good peaches and cream colour we like in Canada, but what is that doing to everyone else’s farm and you? Let’s look and see.

1. Over usage of fertilizers and pesticides degrade the soil from natural nutrients. Meaning that to kill the pesky bugs that also like corn, the pesticides used kill the active nutrients in the soil, having the farmer to add more SYNTHETIC fertilizer to the soil for growth. (Yum!) to also kill all the weeds that row around the corn, the farmer uses herbicides to kill them. So how is your chemically induced southwest salad now?

2. Rainfall washes run off into the water systems. Chemicals that were made from post-war chemicals are now Boeing added to our water systems and have been found in human blood tests. So not only are you eating these chemicals, but also drinking them. Filtration and tap water does not do the trick to kill them off.

If I may add one more variable, let’s add in a whole bunch of cows to the mix. The antibiotics and growth hormones that are given to cows, (and if you think because we live in canada we’re exempt from this, think again) this is also added to the water systems. growth hormones and antibiotics? So even though I have never been prescribed antibiotics, doesn’t mean I still haven’t taken them.

3. So then we have the water systems, where all this ends up. The chemicals, and let’s include mr.Cow, 🐮, is now in the water system and what happens? Of course the algae tries to eat it all. Think back to grade 9 science and the blue-green algae. The blooms are everywhere and are taking over small water systems making fishing and activities impossible. So we’ve killed the fish and the swimming hole. How do you like Mac now?

So what do we do?
1. Stop eating corn. Even organic corn is probably laced with chemicals. You can also include the dirty dozen in this group too.
2. Eat free range, grass fed meats. It’s more expensive, but your body will thank you

These two things will improve your health dramatically. Bloating, anxiety, depression, health problems, diabetes, allergies, and many more symptoms will be reduced. Keep a healthy clean eating lifestyle and you will be rewarded.

Eat well. Work hard.
See you in heartbeat 💕
